Exodus 20:12 (KJV) states, " Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." However, as far as one's eyes can see, there are teenagers and young adults successfully breaking the law stated in Exodus 20:12. Teens and young adults nowadays sassily or arrogantly tell parents, leaders, or people in authority over them that they can do as they wish. Statements like this have created teens who no longer show adults or their peers honor and respect. These teen have no real integrity and most don't even want to work.  However, there are three ways that this country's teens can get back to a state of honor and respect.

A foundational way of re-establishing honor and respect in the home is by going back to biblical child rearing which is to follow the guidelines for parents that God has placed in the Bible to raise children. There are some main pillars to biblical child rearing which include: teaching children to learn and understand the Bible, correcting them with the rod of correction, and standing firm on God's laws. By doing this, parents will begin to see a dramatic change in the atmosphere of their home.

The next step is to follow the guidelines listed in God's word. Two scriptures found in the Bible about biblical child rearing are Proverbs 13:24 (GWT), and Proverbs 22:6 (GWT). Proverbs 13:24 (GWT) states, "Whoever refuses to spank his son hates him, but whoever loves his son disciplines him from early on." That means, if one corrects their child while they are young, in love, by using the rod of correction, they are more likely to grow up being honorable, respectable, and full of integrity. The second verse, Proverbs 22:6 (GWT) states," Train a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not turn away from it." If one trains their child properly while they are young, the Bible says that they will not stray from that path, and there will be great benefits later on in the life of that child.

The third step is to not let the media influence the life of  one's child but for families to instead read and study  Grooming The Next Generation For Success by Dani Johnson. Grooming The Next Generation For Success is a step by step guide on raising children for honor, respect, integrity, and success in the everyday life of any child. 'Grooming' , has helped thousands of families get back on track by teaching and implementing fundamental Christian principles of raising children.

In order to stop the cycle of teens who are dishonorable and disrespectful to peers and those in authority, one must implement the guidelines listed throughout this article.

Following these guidelines could result in a country of more harmonious  families with teens of honor, integrity, and respect. If this country wants to see teens that have honor, respect, integrity, and good quality work ethics, parents must implement these three guidelines into the daily lives of today's generation. It's time to become the positive change for this generation and the next.

Hello Wenseslao,

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your question, and apologize for our late response, being that we just received notification of your question today.
In regards to your question, the information you provided is very limited. With that being said, we are unable to give you a more accurate answer since we are also unaware of the context in which your question relates to.
However, as stated in the article, “...if one corrects their child while they are young, in love, by using the rod of correction, they are more likely to grow up being honorable, respectable, and full of integrity.”
Thus, it is more so suggested that the “use of the rod of correction” is implemented in love, for the purpose of correction, while the child is young—BEFORE the teenage years.
Again, as also specified in the article, we highly suggest reading and applying principles from the book, Grooming The Next Generation For Success and Home Study Course by Dani Johnson to gather better ideas on how to discipline a child that is in their teenage years.

Warm Regards,

Teens Of Honor, Inc.
